Trumpet creeper
Campsis radicans
Also called trumpet creeper, trumpet vine.
Vigorous self-clinging native vine with large orange trumpets all summer. Best on a sturdy, freestanding structure where it can be contained.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 9–12 m (30–39 ft) tall and 1.5–3 m (5–10 ft) wide; fast growth, about 3 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.45) from the #3 install size.

Orange-red flowers, Jun–Sep (northern-hemisphere months; timing shifts with region and season).

Design notes
- Aerial roots damage siding and wood; root suckers pop up metres away.
- Prune hard in late winter to control size.
