Patios, paths, fences and walls in the same model as the plants
Hardscape sets the structure every planting plan hangs on. In OpenLandscape3D surfaces, lines and site objects are first-class, with materials and planning price ranges — and the planner won’t let a shrub quietly land in the middle of the patio.
Surfaces
Draw areas as polygons and choose a material: lawn, planting bed, mulch, gravel, patio, path, deck, driveway and water. Each can carry its own elevation and its own sun and moisture overrides. OL-ONHARD flags any proposed plant whose centre lands on a patio, path, deck, driveway or pool.
Lines: fences, walls and edging
- Fences in board, picket, metal and rail styles, with height and gates placed along any segment.
- Retaining walls in stone or block with height and thickness.
- Edging between beds, lawn and gravel.
Site objects
Pergolas, gazebos, sheds, boulders, benches, pots and planters, raised beds, pools and outdoor lights come from the OpenPlan3D catalog, so they export to OpenPlan3D as the same objects at the same size.
Planning prices, not quotes
Materials carry a low–high price range per unit for early budgeting. They are national planning ranges, not quotes: labour, access, base preparation and local markets move real costs a lot. The hardscape materials guide explains the trade-offs.

Questions
Do patios and fences export to OpenPlan3D?
Yes. Patios and decks export as OpenPlan3D deck/patio objects sized to the area’s bounding rectangle, and each fence segment exports as the matching OpenPlan3D fence object. Lawn, bed and path surfaces stay in the OpenLandscape3D data for now.
Are the material prices quotes?
No. They are broad planning ranges to compare options early. Get local quotes before you commit.
