Regions

Start from where you garden

OpenLandscape3D launches with three U.S. regions with very different climates. Each guide covers climate, frost dates, design examples and a native palette. More regions follow as data and reviewers are ready.

Northeast

CT · MA · ME · NH · NJ · NY · PA · RI · VT

Four distinct seasons with precipitation spread evenly through the year. Winter cold, freeze–thaw cycles, road salt and deer browse shape plant choice more than summer drought does.

Zones 3b–7b · 72 natives in catalog

Southeast

AL · FL · GA · NC · SC · TN

A long growing season with abundant but uneven rainfall, heavy clay in the Piedmont and fast-draining sands on the Coastal Plain. Heat, humidity and disease pressure matter more than winter cold. Covers north and central Florida; south Florida (zones 10b–11) is out of the pilot.

Zones 6b–10a · 90 natives in catalog

Southwest

AZ · NM · NV

Defaults represent the low and middle Sonoran Desert (around Tucson); Phoenix and Las Vegas are hotter and drier, and Albuquerque, Flagstaff and Santa Fe are several zones colder — set the site zone and frost dates accordingly. Water, heat, alkaline soils and sun intensity drive plant choice.

Zones 5a–10a · 49 natives in catalog

Not sure which region you’re in?

The zone & region lookup maps your state to a pilot region and typical hardiness zones. Outside the pilot regions? The plant data still works — set your own zone and frost dates in the planner.
