Larrea tridentata
Also called creosote bush, gobernadora.
Signature shrub of the warm deserts, with resinous olive leaves whose scent fills the air after rain. Needs no irrigation once established.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 1.2–2.4 m (4–8 ft) tall and 1.2–2.4 m (4–8 ft) wide; slow growth, about 10 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.12) from the #3 install size.
Bloom
Yellow flowers, Mar–May (northern-hemisphere months; timing shifts with region and season).
