Annabelle smooth hydrangea
Hydrangea arborescens‘Annabelle’ L.
Also called smooth hydrangea.
Reliable native hydrangea with huge rounded white flower heads in early summer, aging to green. Blooms on new wood, so it flowers even after a hard winter.

Design notes
- Cut stems to 15–30 cm in late winter; strong-stemmed selections flop less after rain.
- Wilts in afternoon sun and drought — best with morning sun and moist soil.
