Design notes

  • Clump-forming and well behaved in lean soil; rich soil makes it tall and floppy.
  • Useful along drives and walks that are salted in winter.

Regions

Native range: Atlantic and Gulf coasts from eastern Canada to Florida and Texas; spreading inland along salted roads.

Native to these OpenLandscape3D pilot regions:

Native status describes where the species occurs naturally. It is not a promise that it suits a particular garden; site conditions decide that.
