Sea Green juniper
Juniperus chinensis‘Sea Green’ L.
Arching, vase-shaped juniper with soft dark green foliage that holds colour in winter. Fills hot, dry banks and large foundation beds.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) tall and 1.8–2.4 m (6–8 ft) wide; medium growth, about 6 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.25) from the #3 install size.
Design notes
- Needs full sun and good drainage; thins and gets blight in shade or wet soil.
- Plan for the full spread — shearing leaves bare brown patches.
Regions
Native range: China and Japan (species).
Not recorded as native to any of the three pilot regions.
Native status describes where the species occurs naturally. It is not a promise that it suits a particular garden; site conditions decide that.
