Beaked yucca
Yucca rostrata Engelm. ex Trel.
Also called beaked yucca.
Tree-like yucca with a single trunk topped by a dense sphere of fine blue leaves. A striking cold-hardy accent.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 1.8–3.6 m (6–12 ft) tall and 0.9–1.2 m (3–4 ft) wide; slow growth, about 25 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.12) from the #5 install size.
Bloom
White flowers, Apr–May (northern-hemisphere months; timing shifts with region and season).

Design notes
- Leave or trim the skirt of dead leaves; trimmed trunks look cleaner.
- Specimens are sold by trunk height.
Regions
Native range: Big Bend region of Texas and northern Mexico.
Not recorded as native to any of the three pilot regions.
