Also called autumn sage.
Small woody sage with tubular flowers in red, pink, coral or white, blooming heavily in spring and fall. A hummingbird magnet in hot, dry beds.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 0.6–0.9 m (2–3 ft) tall and 0.6–0.9 m (2–3 ft) wide; fast growth, about 4 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.45) from the #3 install size.

Design notes
- Shear by a third in late winter and lightly after the spring flush.
- Needs sharp drainage, especially in humid regions.

Native range: Texas and northern Mexico.
Not recorded as native to any of the three pilot regions.
