Prunus serrulata‘Kanzan’
Also called Japanese flowering cherry.
Vase-shaped ornamental cherry with heavy clusters of double pink flowers in mid-spring. Showy but relatively short-lived.
Size over time
Typical landscape size 6–9 m (20–30 ft) tall and 6–9 m (20–30 ft) wide; medium growth, about 25 years to maturity. Intermediate sizes use the planner’s growth curve (k = 0.25) from the #15 install size.

Design notes
- Typically declines after 15–25 years; needs well-drained soil.
- Borers and canker are common on stressed trees — avoid wounding the trunk.

Not recorded as native to any of the three pilot regions.
